OpenHand OpenSpace: New ArtSpeak talks and workshops 2013

Welcome to the third series of ArtSpeak talks on Wednesday evenings (please see separae page for hands-on workshops on Saturdays). Most are led by OpenHand OpenSpace artists but there will be guest speakers and tutors too in future. Please come along and enjoy these sessions and support OHOS. OHOS gazebo - at Kensington Park, Kensington Road, West Reading. Family friendly art workshop, plus Jon Lockhart's Boundless Museum. Free, drop in, all welcome. Supported by Reading Borough Council Community Grant.

Exhibition of artefacts kindly lent by the Wardrobe Museum in Salisbury, interspersed with an art exhibition. Guided tours of the Keep. Free.

Exploring relevant images from Myths and legends in Eastern and Western Europe and how they are interpreted in Modern Art

The Boundless Museum
Jon Lockhart
This family drop-in session will be in Kensington Park in OHOS's gazebo, and not at the Keep. It will be part of the Oxford Road Fun Day. Create a 'pop-up' museum of infinite possibility. You will need a cherished (not valuable) object, a sense of adventure and a story to tell. Free, open to all, no booking needed, sponsored by the Arts Council.

Making it: Funding and Multi-arts Practice
Jon Lockhart
A practical talk that explores the mechanics of funding a specific projecr and how the integration of multiple threads within an application can benefit organisations across the creative sector. Includes cake. Sponsored by the Arts Council.

It is essential to book for workshops as spaces are limited, but you can just turn up on the day for talks.

About OHOS

OHOS is an artist-led centre based in Reading that fosters excellence in contemporary art and provides affordable studio and exhibition space for artists. Its education and exhibition program is open to all and promotes public access to visual art and artists. Since its foundation in 1980 in a former military keep, its studios or exhibition spaces have been used by well over 100 artists, including Cornelia Parker, Douglas Gordon, Paula Rego and Andy Goldsworthy. There are regular residencies for new visual arts graduates. OHOS is an Industrial & Provident Society with charitable status.
There is a waiting list for studio space but applications are welcome: please send/email a cv, 6 images, artist's statement and (optional) a web address to the Administrator at the address below.
